Story

Exclusive gold trio

A prestigious acquisition for any collector, the 1913 Gold Sovereign Trio comprises three King George V sovereigns – struck at the branches of the Royal Mint in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth respectively.

Historical design

Taking a step back in time to pre-First World War Australia, the complete King George V 1913 Gold Sovereign Trio presents physical evidence of Australia's Gold Rush heritage. Pre-WWI Sovereigns are very scarce in superior grade due to the advent of war, making this opportunity sure to spark interest.

In 1913 gold coins disappeared from circulation at the start of the war to be replaced by banknotes. As coins were set to never return, the role of the sovereign transformed from genuine circulation coin to international trading commodity.

Sovereign trio

Unlike their successors, the sovereigns of 1913 were used in day-to-day transactions. Subjected to the normal rigours of circulation, these coins are very scarce in the superb state of preservation and therefore present difficulties to acquire.

Each sovereign unites the portrait of King George V with the timeless beauty of Benedetto Pistrucci’s neo-classical masterpiece, St George & the Dragon.

Presentation packaging

This lavish sovereign tribute is presented in a befitting prestige timber case accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.
