Story

Silver coins resemble Chinese 'ban liang'

In Chinese lunar tradition, the Year of the Ox commences on 12 February 2021. People born under the influence of the ox, which previously ruled during 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997 and 2009, are said to be kind, intelligent, hardworking, honest and reliable.

Four-piece Ox coin design

Each incorporating The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark, the four coin designs in this set depict: an ox ploughing a field with mountains in the background. A pair of oxen and a dragonfly in front of a tree. An adult ox standing on grass with a dragonfly and a calf laying on the grass.

Together they form a single composition comprising an appealing mix of superbly coloured and struck elements.
