Story

Dramatic reverse depiction

The oriental dragon is traditionally portrayed in serpentine form with scaly skin, bulging eyes and sharp claws. Despite its fearsome appearance, it’s said to bestow kindness, good luck and fortune upon humanity.

Symbolic design

The coin’s reverse portrays a dramatic representation of a Chinese dragon intent on catching a flaming pearl. Another highly symbolic motif in Chinese culture, the flaming pearl is a metaphor for wisdom and enlightenment. As well as the 2020 year-date, the coin’s reverse includes its weight and purity and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
