Story

Fearsome sharks

Named for the stripes that line their flanks, tiger sharks can grow to more than five meters long. With serrated cockscomb-shaped teeth, the fearsome-looking creatures are regularly encountered off Australia’s east, west, and northern coasts.

Coloured design

The coin portrays a tiger shark with its jaws wide open. As well as the inscription ‘AUSTRALIA’S TIGER SHARK’, the design includes a border comprising a shark’s jaw bone and jagged teeth.
