Heralding happiness

An ancient symbol of honesty, benevolence and knowledge, the Chinese mythical phoenix’s rare appearances were believed to herald forthcoming happiness, harmony and prosperity.

Phoenix design

The coin’s superb design represents the phoenix as the fusion of a pheasant, mandarin duck, peacock, parrot and swallow. With a reverse proof finish, the shiny bird contrasts with the coin’s frosted table incorporating auspicious cloud motifs. Also included in the design is The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
