Story

Eastern symbolism

In Chinese mythology, the dragon is a divine creature and an auspicious symbol of power, strength, wealth, and good fortune. Throughout East Asia and beyond, koi are synonymous with harmony and happiness, and are also said to be lucky omens for marriage and fertility.

Green dragon and red koi design

The coin portrays coloured representations of a Chinese dragon and a koi. A green dragon is associated with springtime and renewal; a red koi predicts life changes, love, and motherhood. Eyed by both creatures, the flame-ringed pearl is the ancient embodiment of wisdom. Also included is a ‘moon bridge’ – its high arch and reflection on the water creating the shape of the lunar body often associated with purity or perfection.

Memorial Obverse

The coin bears The Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse, featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign, and the monetary denomination.

Display card

The coin is housed on a brightly illustrated display card incorporating a certificate of authenticity with a fold-out stand for upright display.
