Adorable ox

In Chinese lunar tradition, the Year of the Ox commenced on 12 February 2021. People born under the influence of the ox, which previously ruled during 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997 and 2009, are said to be kind, intelligent, hardworking, honest and reliable.

The coin’s reverse depicts an adorable coloured illustration of an ox calf astride a gift-wrapped box. The Chinese character for ‘ox’, the inscription ‘Year of the Ox’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark are also incorporated into the design.
