Story

Dragon lore

To be born in the Year of the Dragon is considered particularly lucky. Bestowed with instinctive bravery, persistence, and intelligence, those born under the dragon’s influence are said to be ambitious, charismatic, and natural leaders.

Coloured design

The coin portrays a sinuous Chinese dragon with a blue face and scales, and red spikes along its spine. A blue dragon is associated with nature, healing, the approach of spring and growth. Motifs in the background represent waves and fog, an allusion to the dragon’s control of the elements. Also included in the design is the Chinese character for ‘dragon’, the inscription ‘DRAGON 2024’, and a ‘P125’ mintmark signifying The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary.

Accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity, the coin is presented in a prestigious red display case with gold lettering and a geometric design on its magnetic lid. The case comes in an illustrated shipper featuring a dragon. When arrayed with other shippers from the series, the resulting diorama depicts the legend of The Great Race, in which 12 animals successfully compete for a position in the lunar zodiac.
