Australia’s most famous marsupial, the kangaroo has appeared on our signature coin series since 1989. Featuring superbly observed portrayals of the iconic animal, the Australian Kangaroo has a reputation for quality, purity and design that extends around the globe.

High relief design

Struck on a thicker blank, high relief coins portray a plumped up design, which on this remarkable piece is a large kangaroo about to leap over a parched creek bed. Also in the design is a windmill and water storage tank, the inscription ‘AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO’, and a ‘P125’ mintmark signifying The Perth Mints 125th anniversary in 2024.

H.M. King Charles III effigy

The coin’s obverse portrays the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the monetary denomination.
