The Aurora Australis is a dramatic display of green, blue, and multifarious shades of flickering light which occurs in the Antarctic night sky.

Shimmering colour

This superb piece visualises the spectacle, also known as the Southern Lights, from the bow of a wooden boat. Conveyed in shimmering tones, the celestial display is mirrored on the reflective still waters of a mountain lake. Also included in the design is the inscription ‘AURORA AUSTRALIS’ on the boat’s thwart.
