Iconic design

The coin’s reverse resonates with anyone familiar with the kookaburra, portraying one of the birds perched on a branch during sunset. The branch is submerged in a river, which is lined with wetland grasses and a gum tree. The design also includes the inscription ‘AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA’, the 2019 year-date, the weight and fineness and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
