Of all the animals admired in Chinese culture, the mythical dragon is the most auspicious. Traditionally regarded as the embodiment of the Emperor, the Chinese dragon is revered as benevolent, noble and potent symbol of abundance and good fortune.

Dramatic design

The coin portrays a dramatic image of a serpentine-shaped dragon with the scales of a fish, eagle-like talons and a horned head. The shiny design, which include a symbolic pearl in the dragon’s grasp, appear on a delicately frosted representations of clouds, denoting the creature’s celestial realm. Also included in the design is The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
