Story

Australia’s largest bird of prey

With a staggering wingspan reaching up to 2.5 metres, this bird of prey effortlessly dominates the skies above mainland Australia and the beautiful island state of Tasmania. Known for its tireless high-altitude soaring and remarkable hunting prowess, the wedge-tailed eagle's distinctively long, wedge-shaped tail sets it apart from other raptors.

Soaring eagle

The coin portrays a representation of a wedge-tailed eagle with outstretched wings ready to take flight. The design includes the inscription ‘AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, together with the coin’s weight, purity, and 2025 year-date.

Authentication feature

The coin incorporates an authentication feature on the reverse. In the form of a micro-laser engraved letter, it is only detectable under a magnifying glass.

The coin is presented in a protective acrylic capsule.
