Story

Classic kangaroo

Skipping over scorched red dirt and spinifex, or seeking shade in sweet-scented eucalypt forest, the kangaroo is as unique as the ancient landscapes it symbolises. In tribute to our most iconic wildlife emblem, we’re honoured to present classic kangaroo artistry on this magnificent annual release from Australia’s signature gold bullion coin series.

2022 kangaroo design

The Australian Kangaroo 2022 1/2oz gold bullion coin portrays a kangaroo and its joey bounding across a flat, grassy plain with hillocks on the horizon. Including the inscription ‘KANGAROO’, the reverse incorporates The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark as well as the coin’s weight, purity and 2022 year-date.

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, Kangaroo gold bullion coins have been trusted for their weight and purity by investors worldwide for more than three decades.

Presentation and mintage

Presented in a protective acrylic capsule, the coin is subject to a limited mintage of 100,000.  Production will cease when the mintage is fully sold or at the end of 2022, whichever comes first, after which The Perth Mint will declare the coin's official mintage.
