Mint medallions mark a media milestone
The Perth Mint is proud to partner with the Seven Network and Seven Perth to recognise a major milestone for two of WA’s best known media personalities.
Susannah Carr and Rick Ardon have just reached the milestone of 40 years as co-presenters of Seven Perth’s nightly news.
To celebrate, we worked with the Seven team to put the famous Perth faces on coloured medallions which will be given away to fans at public events this week.
The partnership is a perfect match in many ways – the Seven duo and the Mint are each recognised as Guinness world record holders.
Rick and Susannah’s record mark for longest-serving television anchor duo was confirmed in January 2022 at 36 years 361 days, and they hit 40 years in front of the cameras together last month.
The Perth Mint was recognised as a Guiness world record holder in February 2012 for producing our one tonne coin, the world’s biggest gold coin which is on display at our exhibition.
The Mint has produced a custom order of 1,000 medallions for Seven, with a colour image of Rick and Susannah on one side and The Perth Mint logo on the other. The medallions are made from aluminium bronze and plated in 99.99% pure gold.
The colour image of Rick and Susannah is applied using the same process as the coloured precious metal coins we produce, which involves advanced LED UV printers to achieve exceptional clarity and sharpness.
We believe this is the first time we have put faces in colour on a customised medallion.
Seven Perth will give away the medallions to members of the public at events on Wednesday 19 February at Lakeside Joondalup shopping centre and Thursday 20 February at Cockburn Gateway shopping centre.
