The Perth Mint has reached an exciting milestone, further cementing its reputation as one of the world’s leading precious metals refiners. We are proud to announce that we have been appointed as one of just seven global referees by the LBMA, the foremost authority in the international precious metals market.

This prestigious appointment is a testament to the exceptional quality, integrity and expertise we have upheld for more than 125 years. It follows a rigorous selection process by the LBMA, which included a visit to our refinery in Perth and an extensive evaluation of our laboratory and assaying capabilities.

What this means for the industry

As an LBMA referee, The Perth Mint will play a key role in upholding the highest industry standards. We will work with the LBMA to support applications from refiners around the world for Good Delivery List accreditation, provide assaying of samples provided by Good Delivery List refiners as part of proactive monitoring, as well as provision of gold and silver reference samples.

A win for Western Australia

Being named an LBMA referee is not just a significant achievement for The Perth Mint, it’s also a proud moment for Western Australia. As one of only seven referees worldwide, our appointment strengthens Perth’s position as a global hub for excellence in the precious metals sector, showcasing the outstanding expertise and innovation that exists within our state.

Recognition for our team

This achievement is a credit to The Perth Mint’s dedicated and highly skilled people, particularly our team in the assay laboratory, whose expertise and commitment to excellence have been instrumental in securing this appointment. Their work ensures we continue to uphold the highest standards in refining and assaying, benefiting the entire precious metals industry.

As a long-standing LBMA member, we are honoured to take on this new responsibility and remain committed to upholding the values and high standards that define the global precious metals market.

We look forward to continuing our work with industry partners worldwide, reinforcing trust and integrity in the sector for years to come.
