Story

Fortuitous pairing

In Chinese mythology, the dragon is a divine creature and an auspicious symbol of power, strength, wealth, and good fortune. Throughout East Asia and beyond, koi are synonymous with harmony and happiness, and are also said to be lucky omens for marriage and fertility.

Auspicious design

The coin portrays a Chinese dragon and a koi circling a flame-ringed pearl, the ancient embodiment of wisdom. In the background is a ‘moon bridge’ – its high arch and reflection on the water creating the shape of the lunar body often associated with purity or perfection. Also included in the design is a ‘P125’ mintmark, signifying The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary, and the 2024 year date.

H.M. King Charles III effigy

The obverse portrays the Dan Thorn effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the coin’s weight, purity, and monetary denomination.

Authentication feature

For additional peace of mind, the coin incorporates an authentication feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter. Detectable under a magnifying glass, it is designed to make it significantly more difficult for the coin to be counterfeited.

Presentation

The coin is presented in a protective acrylic capsule.
